Get Beautiful Feathered Brows with Brow Lamination

Offered here at Zen Derma Studios, brow lamination gives the eyebrows a semi-permanent, groomed and feathered appearance that results in a full and natural look. Depending on the length and color of the hairs, this look can be as dramatic or as subtle as the client would like. Brow lamination is a great service for artists to incorporate into their esthetics or permanent makeup offerings for a number of reasons. It is also a great option for clients who are not ready for microblading. First of all, it is a simple process that consists of five easy steps and takes an approximate total of thirty minutes to complete. Second, it is a great way to bring in income during the slower months, and because it is currently trending, brow lamination is in high demand. Permanent makeup is typically seasonal, so it is important to offer services that keep clients coming back throughout the year.

Essentially, eyebrow lamination is a technique that lifts and redirects the brow hairs to create a different texture. The longer the hairs are, the more you can redirect them. Ideal candidates for brow lamination are individuals with thick, coarse, long eyebrow hairs that are difficult to tame or brush into place. This service is not highly recommended for people with sparse or fine brow hairs that are easily directed. Very popular in the U.K., brow lamination originally started trending in Russia and as it continues to gain more attention in the United States, it is a treatment that I suggest all eyebrow artists offer.

My brow lamination service utilizes the same products as the GEL Lashes treatment because the chemicals are not harsh and are safely formulated for use on the face.

The procedure consists of the following five steps:

  1. I first apply a water-based adhesive to isolate the brow hairs in order to decide which ones we are going to feather upwards.

  2. Next I apply a cream from the base to about halfway up the hair, careful to avoid the tips. This solution helps set the hairs in the desired direction. It is heat activated so I use a warm compress.

  3. After the cream is applied, a setting solution goes on.

  4. Then comes the nourishing and conditioning mask.

  5. And finally I add a nourishing oil.

(Note: processing time of solutions vary depending on hair thickness.)

Aftercare is simple, each recipient must avoid contact with water for a full 24 hours after getting the treatment.

An eyebrow lamination treatment will last 4 to 8 weeks depending on the natural growth cycle of the hair, and many people return in 6 to 8 weeks for a re-lamination. Because this process enhances the hairs and shape of the brow, clients who have had my powder brow treatment are great candidates for a lamination. Although powder brows are not required for a brow lamination treatment, those who have had it done benefit greatly from the added texture and color. I find this is something that individuals with powder brows like having done in-between their touch ups.

To add to the list of pros regarding brow lamination, its highly customizable nature makes it extremely appealing to many people, thus widening your opportunity for clientele. I like to let my clients know that the addition of tint or brow henna is always an option if more color and definition is desired, and that a brow lamination is not a one-size-fits-all service.
