All About GEL Lashes

As lash treatments grow in popularity, procedures such as GEL Lashes offer incredible benefits. Not only do GEL Lashes work to strengthen and nourish the natural eyelash hair, it is also a service that creates regular clients who will come back periodically over time for touch ups.

GEL Lashes is an international brand with training academies and distributors all over the world and Zen Derma Studios is the first GEL Lashes academy here in the United States. I both train students in the GEL Lashes lash lift procedure and distribute GEL products.

Also known as a keratin lash lift, the complete GEL Lashes process takes anywhere between 60 to 90 minutes depending on the thickness of the lashes. Results can last anywhere from 8 to 12 weeks based on the client’s natural lash cycle. Three different solutions come into play in this process, the lifting and setting cream, lash conditioner, and GEL keratin mascara. An additional, optional step is available upon request, which is a lash tint that offers a semi-permanent mascara look.

The GEL Lashes lash lift procedure is as follows:

  1. The client and I settle on a desired look by choosing the size and length of the lashes and whether or not they would like a natural or dramatic appearance.

  2. I use a water-based adhesive to secure silicone shields to the lid, then I go in and isolate the lashes onto the shields.

  3. Then I apply a heat-activated cream to lift and set each lash with a warm eye pillow or other type of compress. This cream makes our process unique because it works to prevent over processing.

  4. After the lashes are set, I use our conditioning cream to moisturize and strengthen the lashes.

  5. Next I apply a nourishing oil.

  6. The final step is a coat of our GEL keratin mascara.

(Note: processing time of solutions vary depending on lash thickness.)

For aftercare, I tell my clients no water contact for at least 24 hours after treatment. I also offer a GEL keratin mascara for purchase that is recommended to strengthen and extend the life of the lift.

What makes GEL lash lifts different from other systems is that our chemical solutions are gentle, so they do not damage the lashes. We also nourish the lashes during the lifting process with additional solutions, so our results typically last longer.

Anyone with lashes is a good candidate for this treatment, making it a lucrative service I would recommend all artists offer. Lashes that appear to be on the shorter side will see pleasing results, though it should be noted that sparse or damaged lashes won’t get a good lift. Additionally, a GEL lash lift is a service I would suggest to anyone looking for an alternative to extensions or with an allergy to lash adhesives.
